Carlos Núñez Armesto
(Mérida, Yucatán, México. 1976)
Carlos Núñez is a mexican visual artist, whose academic training began in 2007 at the Visual Arts Studio of the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, where he studied drawing, painting, silkscreen technique and theory of composition.
In 2008 he enrolled in Michele Maugee`s Studio whwere he was introduced to both metal and linoleum engraving techniques. It was at that time that Carlos first submitted his work to exihibition at the Municipal Art Gallery of the City Museum of Merida.
From 2009 to 2012 Carlos studied art with Ariel Guzmán, Viviana Hinojosa, Jaime Barrera and José Luis Malagón. During that time he also studied lithography with Carlos del Toro in the Taller de Gráfica de la Habana, Cuba, as well as collage and mural art techniques in the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín and Taller Rufino Tamayo in Oaxaca, México.
In Carlos´work elements of abstraction, realism and figurative art converge. Through the use of brush, Roller and spray paint he brings to life a World of fantastic beings which populate his canvases.
It is in these settings that both theme and style meld into a pictorical language which brings to mind fables, dreams and our own childhood.
